Former Pakistan Captain Salman Butt Lands Job Offer with Afghanistan Cricket Board

Former Pakistan cricket captain Salman Butt has received a job offer from the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to serve as the team’s batting consultant for their upcoming series against India. This comes just days after Butt was removed from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) selection panel following a wave of public backlash.

Butt, along with Kamran Akmal and Iftikhar Anjum, had been appointed as consultants to the PCB’s chief selector in January. However, their appointment was met with criticism from fans and pundits alike, who questioned Butt’s suitability for the role given his past involvement in a match-fixing scandal.

In response to the outcry, the PCB subsequently removed Butt from the consultancy position. PCB chief selector Wahab Riaz explained the decision, stating that it was made in light of the “all sorts of stuff” people were saying about Butt.

Despite the controversy surrounding him in Pakistan, Butt’s cricketing expertise has not gone unnoticed by the ACB. The Afghan board has reportedly offered Butt a role as their batting consultant for their upcoming series against India, which is scheduled to take place next month.

Butt has yet to officially accept the ACB’s offer, but he is reportedly considering it. If he does accept the role, it would mark a significant turnaround for the former Pakistan captain, who has been trying to rebuild his reputation following his match-fixing ban.

Only time will tell whether Butt will ultimately accept the ACB’s offer and join the Afghan coaching staff. However, the fact that he has been approached for such a position indicates that he is still valued as a cricketing expert, despite his past controversies.
