Pakistan condemns cross-border aggression by Afghan Taliban regime

Pakistan has strongly condemned the cross-border attacks carried out by the Afghan Taliban regime during the night between October 11 and 12, terming the aggression a violation of international norms and principles of good neighborliness.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the unprovoked attacks along the Pak-Afghan border were described as an “irresponsible and hostile act” that undermines the spirit of peaceful coexistence between the two neighboring countries.

“The actions of the Afghan Taliban regime go against all principles of good neighborliness and mutual respect,” the spokesperson said, warning that such provocations risk escalating an already tense Pak-Afghan security situation.

In response, Pakistan confirmed that it conducted effective defensive operations, targeting terrorist hideouts, equipment, and manpower being used against the country. The Foreign Office noted that Pakistan’s response inflicted significant losses on the aggressors while adhering to strict operational measures to avoid civilian casualties and collateral damage.

The statement reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance that while it remains committed to diplomatic engagement and regional peace, it will not hesitate to take decisive action in defense of its sovereignty and citizens. “Any further provocations will be met with a firm and proportionate response,” the spokesperson added.

The Foreign Office also rejected recent allegations made by Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister in India, calling them baseless and misleading. It said such claims are an attempt to deflect attention from the presence of terrorist organizations on Afghan soil, a concern repeatedly highlighted in United Nations reports.

Islamabad reiterated that it has consistently raised the issue of Khawarij and pro-India militant networks operating from Afghan territory. The spokesperson emphasized that counterterrorism remains a shared responsibility and urged Kabul to prevent its land from being used for cross-border terrorism.

“Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghan refugees for more than four decades on humanitarian grounds,” the statement noted. “However, regulating their stay in accordance with international norms has become necessary given the current security environment.”

Concluding the statement, the Foreign Office reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan, expressing hope that the Afghan people will one day live under a government that truly represents their aspirations. Pakistan, it said, continues to call on the Taliban regime to act responsibly and contribute to ending the ongoing Pak-Afghan tensions through constructive dialogue.
