Punjab Announces New School Timings for Winter 2025–26
The Punjab government has announced new winter school timings for both public and private educational institutions across the province, effective from October 16, 2025, until March 31, 2026, according to an official notification issued by the School Education Department.
The updated schedule aims to accommodate the seasonal shift and ensure a smooth and consistent academic routine during the colder months. Schools have been directed to strictly implement the revised timetable to maintain regularity and efficiency in classroom activities.
Under the new arrangement, boys’ single-shift schools will operate from 8:45 am to 2:45 pm from Monday to Thursday, while classes on Fridays will end at 12:30 pm.
For girls’ single-shift schools, the timing has been set from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, with Friday classes concluding at 12:15 pm.
In double-shift boys’ schools, the first shift will run from 8:45 am to 12:45 pm from Monday to Thursday and until 12:30 pm on Fridays. The second shift will begin at 1:00 pm and end at 5:00 pm on weekdays, with an earlier closure at 2:00 pm on Fridays.
Similarly, double-shift girls’ schools will observe morning classes from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm (Monday to Thursday) and until 12:15 pm on Fridays. The afternoon shift will run from 12:45 pm to 4:45 pm on weekdays and from 1:45 pm to 4:45 pm on Fridays.
The provincial government emphasized that the new timings were carefully designed to adapt to shorter daylight hours and colder mornings, allowing both students and teachers to manage their academic and commuting schedules comfortably.
Officials from the School Education Department stated that the revised schedule was implemented after consultations with education administrators and school heads across Punjab to ensure minimal disruption to learning activities.
Parents have been advised to note the changes and adjust students’ daily routines accordingly, particularly for younger children attending early shifts. School administrations have also been instructed to make necessary arrangements for heating, attendance management, and safety protocols during the winter season.
The Punjab School Education Department continues to monitor institutional compliance and overall attendance rates during the seasonal transition to guarantee smooth academic operations throughout the province.
