Ishaq Dar Urges Muslim Countries to Unite Against Terrorism, Calls for Stronger Ummah Solidarity

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has called on Muslim nations to unite against terrorism and reinforce harmony within the Muslim Ummah. Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the First International Qira’at Competition in Islamabad, Dar emphasized the need for collective strength, shared purpose and stronger religious guidance to confront growing global challenges.

Addressing an audience that included scholars, Qaris and international delegates, Ishaq Dar highlighted that every Muslim country possesses unique strengths. When combined, he said, these strengths can transform the Ummah into an “invincible force” capable of protecting its people and defending its values. He stressed that unity remains essential at a time when global divisions threaten stability in several regions.

Dar reiterated that Islam is a religion of peace and compassion, firmly rejecting terrorism in all forms and manifestations. He urged Muslim-majority states to join hands in eliminating the menace of terrorism as instructed in Islamic teachings. Citing recent security challenges in Pakistan, he noted that terrorist incidents have resurfaced, but emphasized that the country remains resolute and committed to defeating the scourge.

The Deputy Prime Minister also praised the Ministry of Religious Affairs for hosting the first-ever International Qira’at Competition, an event that brought together reciters from across the Muslim world. He described the competition as a commendable effort to promote Quranic recitation, strengthen cultural exchange and reinforce the spiritual unity of the Ummah.

Dar proposed that the next edition of the competition should invite an even larger pool of Qaris from around the globe to further enhance cross-cultural engagement. He encouraged young Qaris in particular to deepen their relationship with the Quran, highlighting that knowledge and spiritual connection are essential tools for guiding future generations.

Expressing gratitude to the foreign delegates and envoys present, Dar acknowledged their role in strengthening fraternal relations among Muslim nations. He said events that bring together scholars and reciters from diverse backgrounds help build bridges of unity and mutual understanding.

The message delivered at the ceremony centered on collaboration, spiritual fortification and collective responsibility. As Pakistan continues to navigate the resurgence of terrorism, the call for unity across the Muslim world aligns with the country’s broader diplomatic and security priorities. Ishaq Dar’s remarks reinforce the belief that through shared efforts, dialogue and a renewed commitment to Islamic principles, the Muslim Ummah can overcome challenges and move toward a more peaceful future.
