First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Stresses Girls’ Empowerment as Key to Pakistan’s Progress

First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari highlighted the crucial role of girls’ education and empowerment in driving Pakistan’s national development, urging young women to pursue learning, develop skills, and actively participate in nation-building.

Addressing a Parents’ Day ceremony at Cadet College for Girls in Nawab Shah on Friday, she emphasized that the strength of Pakistan’s future lies in confident and educated youth. She reiterated that sustainable national progress is only achievable when girls are given equal opportunities to study, gain skills, and contribute meaningfully to society.

The First Lady described Pakistan as a shared identity, linking the country’s security and stability to the well-being of its people. She encouraged cadets to embrace learning and actively contribute to the nation, highlighting the transformative impact of education on individual and societal growth.

In a related initiative, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari called on families, community leaders, and elected representatives to support the nationwide polio vaccination campaign. She stressed that collective responsibility is vital to ensure every child under five receives polio drops, especially during winter months when the poliovirus spreads more rapidly.

The First Lady outlined the campaign’s structure, including a three-day door-to-door vaccination drive, a catch-up day, and extended operations in high-risk areas. She urged officials, religious leaders, and local elders to assist vaccination teams, facilitate access to communities, and counter misinformation to ensure the success of the campaign.

Through her address, Aseefa Bhutto reinforced the message that Pakistan’s development is intertwined with empowering its youth, particularly girls, and safeguarding public health through proactive community participation.
