Pakistan’s gaming and animation industry has reached an important milestone with the successful hosting of the FuturePlay Investor Summit, organized by the Centre of Excellence in Gaming & Animation (CEGA) in Karachi. The event marked the first official investor showcase for CEGA’s inaugural startup cohort, bringing together entrepreneurs, global publishers, venture capitalists, angel investors, and creative technology leaders under one roof.

The summit highlighted the growing potential of Pakistan’s creative technology ecosystem and demonstrated how local startups are preparing to compete in international markets through innovation, mentorship, and investor support.

Established through a public-private partnership between the Ministry of IT & Telecommunication (MoITT), Ignite – National Technology Fund, and HUM Network Limited, CEGA aims to accelerate Pakistan’s gaming, animation, and immersive technology sectors. Beyond providing technical training, the center offers startup incubation, mentorship, modern infrastructure, and business development support to help entrepreneurs transform ideas into globally competitive ventures.

The FuturePlay Investor Summit serves as an extension of this mission by connecting startups with investors, publishers, and strategic partners who can provide funding, market access, and long-term commercial opportunities. This approach bridges the gap between product development and business growth, allowing promising Pakistani studios to scale beyond local markets.

Out of 22 startups inducted into CEGA’s first cohort across Karachi and Lahore, only eight were selected to pitch at the summit after completing a competitive evaluation process. During six months of incubation, founders refined their products, strengthened monetization strategies, protected their intellectual property, and validated their ideas through continuous industry feedback.

The featured startups represented a diverse mix of gaming, animation, virtual reality, metaverse technologies, and Web3 innovation. Projects ranged from survival horror games inspired by Pakistani folklore to immersive healthcare training platforms, multiplayer strategy games, animated productions, and blockchain-powered gaming ecosystems. This diversity reflected the expanding capabilities of Pakistan’s creative technology industry.

A major highlight of the event was Sony’s participation as the official Creative Tech Partner. The collaboration reinforced confidence in Pakistan’s emerging creative ecosystem and showcased the country’s ability to attract international technology partners interested in supporting locally developed intellectual property and innovation.

The summit also featured an industry panel titled “The Rise of Pakistan’s Gaming & Animation Ecosystem: Opportunities, Trends, and the Future.” Industry experts discussed the importance of shifting from outsourced development to creating original intellectual property, meeting international publishing standards, and building sustainable investment pipelines that can support creative startups over the long term.

Beyond investor presentations, attendees experienced live demonstrations and hands-on playtesting sessions, allowing publishers and investors to evaluate products directly. The networking sessions that followed encouraged meaningful conversations between founders, investors, and industry leaders, creating opportunities for future collaborations and commercial partnerships.

The FuturePlay Investor Summit represents more than a single industry event.
