Pakistan’s Cement Sales Rise in July 2026 as Domestic Demand Surges Despite Export Decline
Pakistan’s cement industry began the new fiscal year on a positive note, with overall cement dispatches recording steady year-on-year growth in July 2026. Strong domestic demand helped offset a significant decline in exports, reflecting the resilience of the local construction sector despite challenges in international markets.
According to figures released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), total cement dispatches reached 4.476 million tons in July 2026, marking a 6.02 percent increase compared to 4.222 million tons dispatched during the same month last year.
The latest data highlights growing momentum in Pakistan’s domestic construction and infrastructure sectors, which continue to drive demand for cement despite fluctuations in overseas shipments.
Domestic cement sales recorded an impressive 17.28 percent year-on-year increase, climbing to 3.771 million tons in July 2026 from 3.215 million tons in July 2025. The sharp rise suggests stronger activity in housing projects, commercial developments, and public infrastructure initiatives across the country.
Industry analysts believe the improvement in local dispatches reflects renewed confidence in the construction sector. Increased government development spending, private real estate projects, and infrastructure investments have all contributed to higher cement consumption within Pakistan.
While domestic sales provided a strong boost, export performance remained under pressure. Cement exports fell 29.95 percent year-on-year, dropping to 705,341 tons from 1.007 million tons during the same period last year.
The decline in overseas dispatches points to continued challenges in regional and international markets. Global economic uncertainty, changing demand patterns, rising freight costs, and increased competition from other cement-producing countries are among the factors that may be affecting Pakistan’s export performance.
Despite the setback in exports, the overall increase in cement dispatches demonstrates that domestic demand remains the primary growth driver for the industry. Local consumption accounted for the majority of total dispatches, helping manufacturers maintain production levels even as international shipments weakened.
The cement sector is widely regarded as a key indicator of economic activity because it closely reflects trends in construction, infrastructure development, and industrial investment. Sustained growth in domestic cement sales often signals expanding economic activity and increased confidence among businesses and investors.
Industry stakeholders will continue to monitor export trends in the coming months while hoping for improved regional demand and more favorable international market conditions. At the same time, maintaining strong domestic construction activity will remain essential for supporting production, employment, and long-term industry growth.
With Pakistan pursuing major infrastructure and housing initiatives, cement manufacturers are optimistic that domestic demand will continue to provide stability even if export markets remain challenging. A balanced recovery in both local sales and overseas shipments would further strengthen the industry’s contribution to Pakistan’s economic development.
