President Zardari Urges Expansion of Pak-China Cooperation in Chengdu
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
President Asif Ali Zardari has called for broadening cooperation between Pakistan and China in the political, economic, and cultural spheres. Speaking in Chengdu during his meeting with Li Shulei, Member of the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department, Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing people-to-people exchanges and public diplomacy.
The president thanked Chinese leadership for their hospitality in Sichuan Province and congratulated the organizers of the Second Golden Panda Awards International Culture Forum. He also conveyed Pakistan’s appreciation for China’s continued support and shared vision for regional stability and mutual growth.
Cultural Diplomacy at the Golden Panda Awards Forum
Addressing the Golden Panda Awards Forum, President Zardari emphasized the role of art and culture as bridges for peace, prosperity, and human connection. He highlighted the significance of cultural dialogue in countering divisive narratives and fostering mutual understanding.
“The enduring Pakistan-China friendship is a model of mutual respect and cooperation,” Zardari noted, adding that both countries will celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations next year. He described the partnership as both strategic and people-driven, rooted in shared values and trust.
Support for China’s Global Initiatives
Zardari expressed Pakistan’s full support for China’s vision of “civilization exchange and mutual learning”. He stressed the importance of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), the Global Security Initiative (GSI), and the Global Governance Initiative (GGI). These frameworks, he said, provide pathways for sustainable growth, regional security, and inclusive international cooperation.
The president particularly underlined the GGI’s emphasis on cultural equality, people-to-people exchanges, and respect for diversity. He praised China under President Xi Jinping for offering win-win solutions at a time of global uncertainty.
Reinforcing Pak-China Friendship
During the meeting, Li Shulei conveyed President Xi’s greetings and acknowledged the importance of Zardari’s leadership in strengthening ties. He highlighted that both nations remain “iron-clad brothers”, with cultural and economic cooperation reinforcing their partnership.
President Zardari concluded by congratulating award winners at the forum and praising their creativity, noting that artistic endeavors transcend borders and embody shared human values.
