Premier highlights deep religious and cultural ties between Pakistan and Turkiye
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s enduring friendship with Turkiye, saying that the two nations have always stood by each other through every challenge and triumph.
Speaking as the guest of honour at a ceremony celebrating Turkiye’s 102nd Republic Day, the Prime Minister paid glowing tribute to the deep-rooted brotherhood between the two countries.
He emphasized that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has been a “true friend and global example of leadership, progress, and independence,” particularly for his consistent support of Pakistan in times of need.
PM Shehbaz lauds Turkish leadership and development
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated the Turkish leadership and people on their Republic Day, describing Turkiye’s journey of progress as a “model of perseverance, development, and resilience.”
“The flags of Pakistan and Turkiye fly side by side in Islamabad, and the hearts of our people beat together in brotherhood and solidarity,” he said.
The event was attended by Turkish Ambassador Irfan Nazir Oglu, who read a message from President Erdoğan, along with federal ministers Attaullah Tarar and Abdul Aleem Khan.
PM Shehbaz noted that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkiye, laid the foundations of a modern, visionary state, while President Erdoğan has taken it to new heights of civilisation, cultural advancement, and economic growth.
Pakistan–Turkiye: A bond of faith, history, and mutual respect
The Prime Minister highlighted the religious, cultural, and strategic ties that unite both nations, calling the relationship one of “affection, sincerity, and unbreakable trust.”
“Turkiye has stood by Pakistan in every difficulty — during conflicts, natural disasters, and political challenges. We can never forget the support extended by President Erdoğan during the Pakistan–India conflict and the floods of 2010,” he remarked.
Shehbaz also praised the Pakistan Armed Forces, led by Field Marshal Gen Asim Munir, for their unwavering commitment to the nation’s defence, noting that Turkiye and Pakistan continue to deepen their cooperation in trade, defence, and technology.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to its partnership with Ankara, he concluded by saying that the two countries are “two bodies, one soul,” united by shared faith, vision, and destiny.
