The Sindh government has rolled out a fuel relief initiative offering Rs. 2,000 per month to motorcycle owners, following the federal government’s recent subsidy announcement. The move comes in response to rising petrol prices and aims to ease the financial burden on daily commuters.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced the scheme during a press conference, stating that the decision was taken under challenging economic conditions. He emphasized that the subsidy is designed to support low-income citizens who rely on motorcycles for everyday travel.

To benefit from the subsidy, eligible individuals are expected to register through a verification system that is likely to be introduced by the authorities. While the final mechanism is yet to be fully detailed, officials have indicated that the process may involve either an SMS-based verification or a mobile application for registration and eligibility checks.

Applicants will likely need to provide valid identification, such as a CNIC, along with proof of motorcycle ownership. The scheme is expected to prioritize low-income individuals to ensure that relief reaches those most affected by fuel price hikes.

Once registered and verified, beneficiaries will receive Rs. 2,000 monthly support, which effectively offsets a portion of their fuel expenses. The subsidy is intended to cover up to 20 litres of petrol, offering meaningful relief amid rising living costs.
