Karachi Kings Captain David Warner Charged With Drunk Driving in Sydney
David Warner, captain of the Karachi Kings, has been charged with drink driving in Sydney after reportedly being caught above the legal alcohol limit during a roadside operation.
According to Australian media, the incident occurred Sunday evening in Maroubra, where police were conducting stationary random breath testing. Authorities stated that Warner had allegedly stopped and parked his vehicle before reaching the testing point. A roadside breath test returned a positive result.
Warner was then taken to Maroubra Police Station for a second test, which reportedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.104. Under local law, this places him in the middle-range prescribed concentration category for alcohol.
Police have issued Warner a Field Court Attendance Notice. He is scheduled to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on May 7, 2026, to face the charges.
The 39-year-old Australian cricketer was in his home country during a short break from the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 11). Karachi Kings are not scheduled to play again until April 9, 2026. There has been no public comment from Warner or the Karachi Kings franchise regarding the incident.
This development adds an unexpected off-field controversy amid the PSL season. Fans and analysts will be watching for updates on the legal proceedings and any potential implications for Warner’s participation in the league.
