Peshawar Links BRT Cameras With Safe City Surveillance System

The Peshawar Safe City Project has signed an agreement with TransPeshawar to integrate live camera feeds from Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations into the city’s Safe City surveillance network.

The agreement was signed at the Safe City Project headquarters, marking the beginning of formal technical cooperation between the two organizations. The collaboration is expected to enhance monitoring capabilities and improve coordination for public safety across the city.

According to an official statement, surveillance cameras installed at BRT stations have now been connected to the Safe City Project, significantly expanding Peshawar’s existing surveillance infrastructure. The integration will allow authorities to access live video feeds from key transit locations in real time.

Officials believe the move will strengthen security around public transport facilities by enabling faster monitoring and response to incidents. The connected camera network is also expected to support traffic management, emergency response, and overall law enforcement operations.

The Bus Rapid Transit system serves thousands of commuters daily, making its stations critical public spaces that require continuous monitoring. By linking BRT surveillance with the Safe City Project, authorities aim to create a more coordinated and efficient security framework for passengers and transport infrastructure.

The initiative reflects broader efforts to modernize urban security systems through technology and improve situational awareness for law enforcement agencies. Similar smart surveillance projects have been introduced in several cities to enhance public safety and support effective city management.

The partnership between the Peshawar Safe City Project and TransPeshawar represents another step toward developing a smarter and more secure public transport network for residents and visitors alike.
