Karachi Yellow Line BRT Construction to Continue Around the Clock

The Sindh government has directed authorities to accelerate construction work on the Karachi Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, with activity to continue around the clock to help ensure its timely completion.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon issued the directive while reviewing progress on the major public transport project. He emphasized the need to speed up development work so Karachi residents can benefit from improved and modern transportation facilities.

During the review meeting, Sharjeel Inam Memon said the Yellow Line BRT is an important component of Karachi’s public transport system. He directed the relevant authorities to maintain construction activity 24 hours a day to prevent unnecessary delays.

The decision to continue work around the clock reflects the government’s focus on completing the project within the required timeline. Authorities have been asked to increase the pace of construction and ensure that ongoing work remains on track.

Karachi is one of Pakistan’s largest and most densely populated cities, with millions of residents relying on public transportation for their daily travel. Expanding mass transit infrastructure is therefore considered important for improving mobility and easing pressure on existing transport networks.

The Yellow Line BRT is expected to provide commuters with a more organized public transport option. Once completed, the project is intended to contribute to better connectivity and provide passengers with modern travel facilities along its route.

Sharjeel Inam Memon also stressed the importance of completing the project as soon as possible. The directive places greater emphasis on construction speed and coordination among the departments and officials responsible for implementation.

The review meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Yellow Line Project Director Kamal Dayo, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Behzad Memon and other relevant officials.

Officials discussed the progress of the project and the steps required to maintain momentum. The participation of senior transport authorities indicates that the project remains under close review by the provincial government.

For Karachi commuters, timely completion of the Yellow Line BRT could offer an additional public transport option as the city continues to face increasing demand for reliable and efficient mobility services.

The government’s latest instructions also highlight the importance of maintaining construction activity without extended interruptions. With work directed to continue on a 24-hour basis, authorities are now expected to focus on implementation speed while maintaining the required construction standards.

The progress of the Yellow Line project will remain significant for Karachi’s wider public transport development. Continued work and effective coordination among the relevant agencies will be important in moving the project toward completion.
