Brazilian Smuggler Caught with Cocaine Worth Rs13 Million at Karachi Airport
The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested a Brazilian woman at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, seizing 1.396 kilograms of cocaine hidden in plastic bags. The estimated value of the narcotics is an astonishing Rs13.9 million, as reported by ARY News.
Operation Overview
The woman arrived on a private airline, unaware that her luggage was under surveillance by ANF officials. During a routine check, officers uncovered the hidden drugs, leading to her immediate arrest. A case has been filed under the Anti-Narcotics Act, and investigations are underway to uncover potential connections to larger trafficking networks.
Rise in Drug Smuggling Attempts
This incident adds to a growing list of thwarted drug smuggling operations across Pakistan. In October 2024, a man named Iqbal Hussain was detained at Peshawar Airport while attempting to smuggle 1.210 kilograms of ICE drugs. The drugs were ingeniously hidden within his luggage, and the passenger was en route to Jeddah.
Additionally, a combined seizure of 2.376 kilograms of ICE was reported when ASF personnel intercepted two separate individuals at the same airport. Both cases demonstrated advanced concealment tactics, including hiding drugs in the inner lining of bags and among sweets.
Vigilant Enforcement Against Trafficking
The ANF has ramped up its vigilance at major airports, using advanced scanning techniques and intelligence-based operations. These measures have led to the disruption of several smuggling attempts in recent months, highlighting the effectiveness of Pakistan’s counter-narcotics efforts.
