Punjab has completed Pakistan’s first dedicated wildlife hospital in Lahore, marking a significant development in the province’s efforts to protect and treat wild animals.

The newly established facility includes 12 operation theatres and two examination rooms, providing specialized medical infrastructure for the treatment of injured and sick wildlife.

The project was highlighted during a visit by Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb to the Command and Control Centre of the Forest and Wildlife Department. She received a briefing on several ongoing projects related to forests, wildlife conservation and eco-tourism.

The wildlife hospital is expected to strengthen the province’s capacity to provide medical care to wild animals requiring treatment. Specialized facilities can play an important role in the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife affected by injuries, accidents and other threats.

During the briefing, officials also shared details about the province’s tree plantation efforts. According to the officials, Punjab achieved its target of planting 50 million trees within one year.

Authorities said the plantation drive is continuing, with more than 10 million additional saplings being planted as part of the monsoon plantation campaign.
