Everything You Need to Know About CM Punjab’s Free Solar Panel Scheme

Punjab’s Revolutionary Solar Initiative
Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, has unveiled the CM Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme, aiming to bring renewable energy to low-income households. This initiative targets 100,000 families, helping them lower their electricity bills while contributing to a greener future.

Application Procedure Simplified
Eligible residents can apply using one of two methods:

  1. Online Registration: Access the portal at cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk and submit your CNIC and electricity bill reference number.
  2. SMS Registration: Send your details to 8800.

Applications will undergo verification, and the recipients will be chosen via a transparent ballot system.

Customized Solar Panel Distribution
The scheme offers solar systems based on electricity usage:

  • 550-watt systems for households using up to 100 units/month.
  • 1,100-watt systems for households using up to 200 units/month.

This large-scale rollout, spanning a year, ensures thousands gain access to cost-effective solar energy.

Environmental and Economic Impact
Linking solar systems to the consumer’s CNIC will curb theft and misuse. Additionally, the installation of these systems is anticipated to cut 57,000 tons of carbon emissions annually, further enhancing Punjab’s eco-friendly initiatives.

More Relief for Punjab Residents
This solar scheme builds on previous programs that delivered a subsidy of Rs.14 per unit to 7.3 million consumers. The government’s focus remains on ensuring public funds directly benefit citizens. For further assistance, a dedicated helpline will be launched soon.
