She emphasized that these buses are equipped with modern facilities such as Wi-Fi, charging ports, and comfortable seating, providing a travel experience that meets global standards.
The Chief Minister underlined that the Punjab government is committed to delivering state-of-the-art transport services across the province. She highlighted that buses will be free for school and college students, senior citizens over 60, and persons with disabilities. Moreover, passengers with disabilities who do not have wheelchairs will be provided with them, ensuring inclusivity in the new transport system.
Maryam Nawaz reiterated Lahore’s significance as a hub for modern infrastructure projects. She pointed out that the city has seen Pakistan’s first metro bus system and Orange Line Train, and now stands at the forefront of electric mobility initiatives. She also announced that metro bus services will be expanded to Gujranwala and Faisalabad this year.
The newly launched buses will operate from Thokar to Raiwind City, providing a clean and efficient transport alternative. CM Maryam also spoke about broader development plans, including the construction of 90,000 houses under the Apna Ghar scheme, new underwater storage lines to ensure access to clean water, and healthcare facilities such as the world’s largest cancer hospital being built in Lahore.
She stressed that her government is introducing welfare initiatives like ration cards, Himmat cards, and minority cards to support low-income households. During her address, Maryam Nawaz also criticized political rivals, stating that Punjab has delivered development projects while others failed to invest in essential infrastructure.
The inauguration was attended by senior provincial leaders, including Marriyum Aurangzeb, Bilal Akbar Khan, Sohail Shaukat Butt, Musa Raza, and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, reflecting strong government support for the transport modernization program.
With this initiative, the Punjab government is setting the stage for a greener, more accessible, and technologically advanced transport future.
