The Government of Punjab has introduced a Juvenile Permit Facility to provide a legal and regulated framework for young motorcycle riders aged between 16 and 18 years. The initiative aims to improve road safety while ensuring that underage riders operate motorcycles under clearly defined rules and restrictions.

The new permit system allows eligible teenagers to ride motorcycles legally instead of using vehicles without official authorization. Authorities believe the move will encourage responsible riding habits and promote greater compliance with traffic regulations across the province.

Under the scheme, applicants between the ages of 16 and 18 can obtain a Juvenile Permit by visiting their nearest Driving Licence Centre along with a parent or legal guardian. The presence of a guardian is mandatory during the application process to ensure parental consent and compliance with the program’s requirements.

To apply for the permit, applicants should carry the necessary identification documents and complete the required formalities at the licensing center. Officials may also conduct verification procedures before issuing the permit.

The Juvenile Permit comes with specific restrictions designed to enhance road safety. Permit holders are only allowed to ride motorcycles with engine capacities of up to 125cc. This limitation is intended to reduce risks associated with higher-powered vehicles and make riding safer for younger motorists.

In addition, permit holders must not exceed a maximum speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour. Traffic authorities have emphasized that strict adherence to speed regulations and road safety rules will be mandatory for all juvenile riders.
