Brr! Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, just had its iciest night of the winter. On Sunday, the temperature plunged to a bone-chilling -5 degrees Celsius. Imagine water freezing right in the pipes and on the roads! A frosty wind swept through the city, sending shivers down everyone’s spines. Much of Balochistan province is feeling the winter’s icy grip.
But there’s good news! After a bout of heavy rain, the skies over Quetta are now clear.
This past Saturday was a wild one, with rain, thunderstorms, and heavy snow hitting areas like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, northern Punjab, and Balochistan. Even Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan got their share of wintry weather.
The authorities are telling everyone to stay safe – bundle up, avoid going out unless you have to, and keep an eye on the weather forecast. Emergency workers are standing by, ready to help if the freezing conditions cause any problems.
A Few Tips for Staying Warm
While we can’t control the weather, here are some things you can do:
- Layer up: Wear several layers of clothing to trap heat.
- Hats and gloves: Don’t forget to cover your head and hands!
- Hot drinks: A warm cup of tea or coffee will bring comfort on a cold day.
- Check on others: If you know someone elderly or vulnerable, see if they need help staying warm.
