Karachi Police Urge Schools and Parents to Tighten Child Safety Measures
Urgent Advisory Following Surge in Kidnappings
In response to a disturbing rise in child abduction cases, Karachi police have issued a detailed safety advisory aimed at schools, seminaries, and parents. The guidelines are designed to strengthen precautions and protect children in the city.
Key Safety Recommendations
The advisory stresses that children should only leave with their parents or authorized guardians. Schools and seminaries have been asked to implement stricter protocols to ensure that no child is handed over to unauthorized individuals. Parents have also been urged to personally escort their children to and from school to reduce risks.
Foiled Kidnapping Attempt Raises Alarm
The urgency of these measures was underscored by a recent incident in Korangi’s Bhatai Colony. In a dramatic encounter captured on CCTV, two men on a motorcycle attempted to abduct a young girl walking with a woman.
As one of the kidnappers tried to grab the girl, her cries for help, along with the woman’s shouting, forced the assailants to flee. The footage shows the men escaping on their motorcycle, leaving the girl unharmed but shaken.
Ongoing Investigations and Police Efforts
The Korangi police have initiated an investigation and are pursuing the suspects with urgency. However, despite efforts, recent high-profile kidnapping cases remain unresolved, raising public concern.
Unsolved Cases Add to Worry
The case of Sarim, a boy found dead after being abducted in New Karachi, has spotlighted gaps in the police response. Similarly, the disappearance of two minors, Aaliyan (5) and Ali (6), from Garden West continues to baffle authorities. CCTV footage showing the children with two suspects on a motorcycle has provided clues, but progress has been slow.
These unresolved incidents emphasize the critical need for vigilance and stricter safety protocols in Karachi.
