Pakistan Launches 24/7 National Cybersecurity Control Room Amid Rising Threats
The Government of Pakistanโs National Cyber Emergency Response Team has established a 24/7 National Cybersecurity Control Room at its headquarters in L-Block, Pak Secretariat, Islamabad. The move comes in response to growing concerns over potential cyberattacks targeting government networks, critical websites, and national digital infrastructure.
According to an official notification, the control room will serve as the countryโs National Coordination Center, responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to cyber incidents across Pakistan. The facility aims to strengthen real-time detection capabilities and streamline coordinated responses to evolving cyber threats.
The initiative mandates all Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Sectoral CERTs, and Provincial CERTs to set up dedicated monitoring arrangements. These entities are required to ensure continuous surveillance of their networks and critical assets, and report any suspicious activity or confirmed security incidents immediately to nCERT.
Officials emphasized that the round-the-clock monitoring and centralized coordination are essential to safeguard the countryโs digital infrastructure amid rising global cyber risks. The control room will facilitate faster incident response, threat intelligence sharing, and proactive measures to prevent breaches.
Cybersecurity experts note that as government services, banking systems, and public platforms increasingly migrate online, establishing centralized oversight mechanisms is vital to prevent disruptions and maintain public trust. The new control room marks a key step in Pakistanโs efforts to enhance national cyber resilience.
